childcrayondrawingYes, it is up to you to interpret your drawing.  Here are a few questions:  1.  How empty or full is the picture? 2.  What colors did you choose?treedrawnbychild  This drawing represents your life and the tree represents you.  3.  What does your drawing say about how you feel about your environment and yourself?  4. Are you blooming?  Are you waning?  5.  How important are you in the scheme of things?

I hope you keep this drawing to refer to when we start exploring the chakra system.  This can be a important clue to chakra energy healing needed.   Stay tuned.

I like Dr. Bernie S. Siegel’s Exercise 58 in his book 101 Exercises for the Soul.  This is fun homework.

Get yourself a big box of crayons and a drawing tablet.

This is a wonderful tool for self-expression.

Step One:  Draw a picture of an outdoor scene, and include a tree in your art piece.

Let your inner-child come out to play.

Oh, yes and Step Two “What does creative vision say about you?

  Tune in Tomorrow!

debbiefortsecretoftheshadow

It makes sense I would recommend Debbie Ford’s book first.  It was part of my homework when attending training  and I quite often recommend it to my clients for their   homework.  One of my favorite quotes from this book is “The deeper truth is that I have a story but I am not my story.”

Here is a small snippet taken from chapter one: “I spent the next ten years of my life examining not only my own story but the stories of others.  While on this journey I learned three very important things:  First, we create our life stories in our attempt to become someone or something.  Second, our stories hold the key to our unique purpose in life and to its fulfillment.  And Third, hidden in the shadow of our story  is a very special secret; once this secret is unveiled, we will stand in awe of the magnificence of our own humanity.”

Grounding – Breathing Technique

November 13th, 2012 | Posted by Velda in ENERGY HEALING

womanholdingnoseHere is a quick breathing technique to help ground yourself, clear the mind and helps alliviate headaches.  You will use calming, grounding statements as you breathe, like:

Inhaling (through left nostril, closing right nostril with right thumb), “I am breathing in calm” or “I am breathing in good energy.”

(Close left nostril)  Exhaling (through right nostril), ”I am breathing out anxiety” or “I am breathing out bad energy ,” or “I am safe.”

Repeat rounds 6-10 times, focus on keeping breath smooth, deep and rhythmic.  You will not want to practice this exercise if you have a cold.  If pregnant, please check with your healthcare provider.

Watch for future grounding posts using gemstones, essential oils and my favorite, hugging trees!

Balancing the Brain Hemispheres

November 12th, 2012 | Posted by Velda in ENERGY HEALING

HarmonystoneThis grounding technique is called, balancing the brain hemispheres.  Many of my clients and I practice this exercise because it is so relaxing. Place both hands on the sides of your head so the palms are resting on the temples and the fingers cradle (wrap around) the crown of your head.  The fingers from both hands will possibly touch at the top of the head.  Hold firmly but not too tight.  Close your eyes and take several deep breaths.  This  is an opportunity to become aware of what your body needs regarding how many seconds it takes before you feel grounded and balanced.

Look for another grounding tip tomorrow!

Many of you are probably too young to remember the character Tarzan, or had little brothers running around the house pounding the center of their chest like a drum pretending to be Tarzan of the jungle.  Now I know that they were doing some great energy healing.  Tapping the area over the thymus gland is a simple technique that awakens the body’s energies, helps the immune system, and increases your strength and vitality.  This is especially true if your immune system is being challenged if you are catching a cold, fighting an infection or if you are feeling a little down.

youngtarzanthymustapThe Tarzan thump is a simple technique:  Take the four fingers of both hands and tap the center between the breasts, or you can make like Tarzan and tap with one fist.  Tap firmly, breathe slowly and deeply, in through your nose and out through your mouth for two or three deep breaths.  This is one of those exercises that you can repeat throughout the day which will help stimulate and reset the thymus gland.  Happy thumping.

Chanting OM is recommended to release blockages that might be present in your throat region.  The OM sound is believed to have a positive effect on the nervous system, to strengthen the respiratory system and to energize every part of the body.  Chanting its three syllables sets up rebalancing vibrations in your body.   Here are the components of OMAAAH  OU  MMMMM  and directions on how to chant:OMcolorwheel

AAAH -open mouth wide and begin to loudly chant the initial syllable, AAAH, letting the sound begin in the pit of your abdomen.

OU - Gradually round your lips to allow the sound to morph into OU.  Feel it move up through your chest and throat region.

MMMMM - Continue rounding your lips more tightly to form the final sound, MMMMM.  Let the sound vibrate in your head and face, especially in your sinus cavities.

Feel free to repeat OM Chanting slowly, making each part of the sound as long as possible.   The sounds can become softer and softer until you are whispering or humming the chant.  Then begin to make the sound gradually louder again.

7 Rights = 7 Chakra Affirmations

November 10th, 2012 | Posted by Velda in CHAKRAS

ChakrawomaninflowercenterToday I want to briefly go over the seven rights of the seven major chakras.  First (Root) chakra is the right to be here and the right to have.  Second (Sacral) chakra is the right to feel and the right to want. Third (Solar-plexus) chakra is the right to act and the right to be free. Fourth (Heart) chakra is the right to love and be loved.  Fifth (Throat) chakra is the right to speak and hear truth.  Sixth (Brow) chakra is the right to see. Seventh (Crown) chakra is the right to know.

This is a powerful chakra affirmation:

I HAVE,    I FEEL,    I CAN,    I LOVE,    I SPEAK,    I SEE,    I KNOW

Repeat it as often as you feel it is needed.
