forgivenessaffirmationormantraTonight I am only going to share one healing ‘Forgiveness Affirmation’ which has been used by others as their ‘Personal Forgiveness Mantra’.  However, there are many affirmations to choose from when working through self-forgiveness.  It is difficult to forgive others until we forgive ourselves.  We also can’t love others unconditionally until we love ourselves. That is why it has been suggested to use this affirmation as a ‘Personal Forgiveness Mantra’ and repeat it to yourself until you truly accept it:

I love you, I’m sorry, Please forgive me, Thank you.

These are the benefits of applying acupressure to the Governor Vessel 20:  Increases mental alertness, concentration and balances the mind.  Oriental medicine views physical and meridian balance an important aspect of mental and emotional health.  Acupressure points that strengthen the internal organs and promotes circulation through the vessels and meridians help maintain mental and emotional balance.  To locate the Governor Vessel 20, place your thumbs on the top of each ear, stretch the middle fingers out to meet at the top of the head.  This point location should be felt as a small depression in the scalp and may feel slightly tender.  Apply gentle acupressure perpendicularly into the scalp using the middle or index finger.   You can also use a circular motion to message the Governor Vessel 20.

Do not overstimulate this point if suffering from high blood pressure.

Green is a Good General Healing Color

January 18th, 2013 | Posted by Velda in COLORS

greenisahealingcolorforbodyandmindGreen color therapy is a good general healing color.  The Heart Chakra is stimulated by the color green and this color helps with issues of the heart.  Green helps bring harmony, balance, and possesses a soothing influence on both mind and body.  Because Green is a combination of both yellow and blue, this energy brings growth, compassion, unconditional love, openness, forgiveness, acceptance and contentment.

Love it:  People who associate themselves with green often show a keen interest in nature, fellowmen, health and healing.  They tend to dislike conflicts. They are drawn to peace, rest, hope, comfort, and calmness.  Hate it:  A person with an aversion to green may be more interested in independence and self-development than in a warm family-life.  They may prefer to keep a certain distance in relationships.

chrysoprase healing inner childChrysoprase helps heal your inner child, releasing emotions locked in since childhood.  This gemstone energizes the heart and sacral chakras which help promote love and truth.  Chrysoprase also promotes hope and gives personal insights.  It is recommended to carry Chrysoprase for long periods of time while connecting and working with your inner child.   John Bradshaw writes in his book “Home Coming: Reclaiming and Championing Your Inner Child”, the process of healing your wounded inner child is one of grief and it involves these seven steps:  Trust, Validation, Shock, Anger, Sadness, Remorse, and Loneliness.

Along with the Chrysoprase it is best to do MORE.  I am listing some messages you can share with your inner child.  Hopefully you will experience healing for your adult and your inner child.  Messages:  “You are in a safe place, you can feel whatever you need to feel.  You are loved, honored, respected, and supported.  When you are ready you can begin to let go of some of the burdens, the pain, and those secret feelings.   I will give you the time you need to trust me and to trust the adult you have become.”

The book Energy Medicine Balancing Your Body’s Energies for Optimal Health, Joy and Vitality, by Donna Eden with David Feinstein, Ph.D. was first published in 1998.  My copy is the Tenth Anniversary Edition which I refer to often for my own self-healing and working with my clients.  There will be many of my future posts dedicated to Donna Eden’s wisdom and exercises she shares in all of her books.

donnaedensexercisehook-up

In Donna Eden’s books, Energy Medicine and Energy Medicine For Women, she recommends the ’Hook-Up’ exercise to do anytime your energies are feeling a bit “off”.  The’ Hook-Up’ creates a connection between your central meridian (which sends energy up the front of your body) and governing meridian (which sends energy up your spine), bridging the energies between the front and back of your body and between your head and torso.  It strengthens your aura and increases your coordination. This exercise is one of the most powerful tools to use to quickly center yourself.

To do the ‘Hook-Up’, breathe in deeply through your nose and out through your mouth for 15 – 20 seconds.  Place the middle finger of one hand on your third eye (above the bridge of your nose).   Place the middle finger of the other hand in your navel.  Gently press each finger into your skin, pull it upward, and hold for 15 to 20 seconds.  Author states, “Often a spontaneous sigh or deep breath signals that the energies have hooked up.”  Photo – Author, Donna Eden.

It is a powerful technique to resonate and balance your chakras using the chakra vowel sounds.  It is recommended that chanting the vowel sounds should be practiced in a comfortable posture sitting in a chair or on the floor.   Keep your spine as straight as possible, allowing the energy to flow in your body more freely. This is a great daily exercise exploring the harmonics presented in the vowels.  Make these sounds in a gentle voice not straining while focusing your energy and intent on balancing each chakra.  Don’t worry about the pitch or note, just let your voice resonate with your body.  This pitch will change according to your mood, diet, activities, etc. on a daily basis.  There is no set frequency.

Start by breathing in deeply, expanding your lower stomach as you inhale.  Focus your awareness on each of the chakras as you are working on them.  You may wish to add color visualization with each chakra.  Start with the Root Chakra (Red) - Sound OO or UUH, as in ‘cup’; Sacral Chakra (Orange) – Sound OH or OOO, as in ‘you’; Solar Plexus Chakra (Yellow) -Sound  AW or OH, as in ‘go’; Heart Chakra (Green) -Sound AH, as in ‘ma’; Throat Chakra (Blue) – Sound IH OR EYE,  as in ‘my’; Brow or Third Eye Chakra (Indigo) – Sound IH or AYE, as in ‘say’;  and Crown Chakra (Violet or White) – Sound EE or EEE, as in ‘me’Please note that for most of the Chakras I have included several ways their sounds our listed ie: the Root Chakra illustration shows Sound OO many places it will be shown as UUH.

I have read many books that have been inspirational, however, Lucia Capacchine, Ph.D.’s book, The Power of Your Other Hand and the Art of Emotional Healing, was probably one of the most healing.   On June 6, 2002, I decided to deal with one of my fears – journaling.  I have never been fond of my handwriting and I am not the greatest with spelling.  What I do love is children’s art and their whimsical writing, so what the author was recommending sounded fun.  What I wasn’t prepared for is how this exercise brought out so much stuffed and buried emotions and for the first time put me in touch with my inner child.

Here is the basic premise of the exercise, first you will need the following materials:  2 different colored pens or pencils, assortment of 8-12 colored felt pens and a sketchbook 8 1/2 x 11 or larger.  I found the larger worked best for me.  The author will have some suggested questions that might work with some the emotional issues you are personally wanting to work on.  Your journaling starts by writing down a question with your dominant hand then responding by writing and or drawing with your non-dominant hand.  The result of this exercise is absolutely astonishing.  (Picture from author’s illustrations).

What Does Our Solar Plexus Need?

January 11th, 2013 | Posted by Velda in CHAKRAS

The Solar Plexus Chakra is our personal power chakra.   This is the area that defines our ‘self-esteem’.  When the energy of your Solar Plexus is balanced and unblocked, you feel confident, valued, unique and energetic.  The personality that develops during puberty is housed in this chakra which is known as the ‘EGO’.  The unbalanced Solar Plexus energy often has the need to manipulate or to be controlled by others or to be angry.  Because this chakra is a great network of nerves that goes out to all parts of the abdominal cavity and has been sometimes called the ‘abdominal brain’, and can be highly affected by stress.

What does your 3rd Chakra need?  A healthy Solar Plexus vibrates at a frequency similar to the color yellow, therefore adding more yellow foods to your diet can help balance this chakra.  I bet you weren’t aware that a great exercise for the Solar Plexus is using a hula hoop and dancing.  Gemstones for the Solar Plexus include:  Adventurine – balances energy, boosts well-being; Topaz – encourages confidence; Yellow Citrine -lets you access your personal power and Amber (for more details).  What this chakra really loves is a ‘Genie in the Bottle’ belly rub!

Can Healing Yellow Help Winter Blues?

January 10th, 2013 | Posted by Velda in COLORS

yellowhealingcolorduringwintermonthshealingcolorofyellowforwintermonths

We can benefit bringing the warmth and radiant energy of yellow into our winter months.  Yellow is mentally stimulating, strengthens the nervous system, stimulates the solar plexus, helps the pores of the skin, aids scarred tissue in healing itself, great color for treating depression and great for one’s confidence.  Chase away the winter blues by letting  your inner child try to out laugh a large smiley face - my kind of exercise.
