Drinking Water Is Healing

Positive Healing Water Rituals

Author Tess Whitehurst in her book, The Good Energy Book, points out that everything—even the physical body is made of energy.  So for today’s exercise, imagine that your energetic body is a lake, everything positive that goes into it affects the clarity and vibrancy of the entire lake (physical, emotional and spiritual body).

Positive Healing Water Rituals

We all know that drinking lots of what is important.  It is suggested we drink at least half our body weight in ounces per day as a great way to help clear out both physical and energetic toxins and refresh our energetic body.  The author recommends remembering to bless our water before drinking it.  She offers that we might hold our water in both hands and say the following water blessing:

“Great Goddess, please infuse this water with vibrations of purification and love.”

Additionally or instead:

You might visualize a very bright white light coming down from above, entering the Crown Chakra, going down to the heart, through your arms, out the palms of your hands and into the glass.

If you want to get fancy, you can change the color of the light according to your intentions for the day.

For Example you might choose to visualize Pink,

Goddess Wisdom – Oshun

September 4th, 2015 | Posted by Velda in GODDESS WISDOM

Goddess Wisdom - Oshun

One of the most important roles that Oshun plays is that of the goddess of the sweet waters and the protective deity of the River named Oshun in Nigeria.  Alongside this river is a sacred grove, probably the last in Yoruba Culture, dedicated to Oshun.  Sometimes she is portrayed as a mermaid, with a beautiful tail of a fish (as seen above).

Goddess Wisdom - OshunAs a goddess of love, Oshun is depicted as a beautiful, charming and sensual young woman.  Although Oshun governs love and the sweet waters, she is also regarded as a highly benevolent deity.  She is said to be the protector of the poor and the mother of all orphans.  Oshun is regarded as a healer of the sick, the bringer of song, music and dance, as well as prosperity and fertility.  She is known to teach the art of divination using cowrie shells, as well as songs, chants and meditations taught to her by her father Obatala.Goddess Wisdom - Oshun

After researching this lovely African Goddess, I am wondering if visiting the following festival might need to be added to my bucket list. The festival of Oshun-Osgobo, which takes place every year in Osogbo, Nigeria, celebrates the goddess of fertility, Oshun. The festival renews the contract between humans and the divine. Oshun offers grace to the community; in return, it vows to honor her Sacred Grove. This ceremony is part of a rich indigenous Yoruba religious tradition that began in West Africa and has become one of the ten largest religions in the world, with upwards of 100 million practitioners.

 Tuesday's Healing Word Humming

Humming is a soothing form of sound medicine, infusing your body with many therapeutic benefits.  Imagine filling your head with the vibration of a calming “humm” for one, two or even 5 minutes.  It’s bliss. Bliss that you can create inside your head and body within seconds.  We also can receive the same benefits from whistling.

The simple act of humming can have similar effects, according to research into what’s known as vibrational medicine, and that various frequencies can produce healing properties.  Along with calming your spirits and your nervous system, it improves your breathing rate and boosts oxygen distribution throughout the body.

Humming may be one of the most natural things a person can do, yet the benefits are surprisingly far reaching.  It produces a positive effect on both heart rate and blood pressure.  Smiling, while humming your favorite tune or the sound “Om,” (pronounced AOM) for two minutes, changes your mindset and emotions.  If you started humming right now, your muscles in the face, jaws, and shoulders would begin to relax.  GO FOR IT!   START HUMMING!
