I found the following Simple Chakra Clearing Meditation on Pinterest.  Today is an air travel day for me.  In the Anchorage Airport, I found a quiet spot and practiced Meg Hill’s meditation.  It truly is simple and effective.  While still in this peaceful area of the airport, looking out at the most beautiful sunny morning,  I decided to share this meditation with my blog readers. Happy meditating and have a joyful day.

Chakra Balancing Chart

Chakra Balancing Chart

The following use of colors, crystals, and essential oils, are powerful tools for bringing balance to our energy centers— the chakras.

Color Energy:  You will find yourself drawn to one color more than others.  The energy vibration of that color is what you need, at this moment, in order to improve and balance your emotional state. The needed color can be introduced through clothing worn, viewing the color in art, and also with gemstones.

Balancing Chakras with gemstones:  This is the most relaxing way to balance all the chakras at the same time with gemstones.  Find time to take a quiet 20 minute break either laying down on a mat or bed.  On each of the chakras, place their recommended gemstone (see chart above).  The Crown Chakra gemstone rests on the mat just above the head and the Base or Root Chakra gemstone rests on the mat between the legs close to your body.

Essential Oils for Individual Chakra Balancing:  Place a drop of undiluted oil into the palm of one of your hands.  Then lightly rub your palms together clockwise, which potentizes the oil with your body’s frequencies.  Finally, cup your hands over your nose taking a small breath of the oil and wait a minute to see how you respond. If you feel as if you need more, take up to three more deep breaths.

Create Animal Guide TotemAre you ready to have fun today?  I am inviting you to use your imagination to create your own Chakras’ Animal Guide Totem.  Divide a blank piece of paper into three columns.  The center column is where I built my totem starting from the bottom Earth Chakra (sometimes referred to Earth Star) to the top chakra above the Crown (sometimes referred to Soul Star).  Allow your intuition to select what animal you think best represents each of the nine chakras.  Sketch or paste pictures of the animals you choose for each chakra.  You will probably be moved to pick your favorite animals.

In the left hand column of my paper, after completing my Chakra Animal Guide Totem, I looked up on the internet what Totem Lesson each of my animals could teach me. Then in the right hand column I looked up Dreamtime Messages if visited by these animals.

Below is an example of how I worked on my Chakra Animal Guide Totem (without the animals drawn).  This exercise is like a journaling exercise.  Some might consider it a vision board exercise.  I was extremely fortunate that my dearest friend took my collage of animals stacked on top of each other and did a beautiful pencil etching of my Chakra Animal Totem.  It is one of my most cherished pieces of art.  ENJOY – YOUR ANIMAL GUIDES’ PERSONAL MESSAGES!!!

thumb-walk spinal reflex on thumbs

Yesterday we looked at treating the chakras with reflexology on the feet which is covered in the book The Reflexology Manual, by Pauline Wills.  The author recommends to immediately follow by treating the spinal reflex on the thumbs. The spinal reflex lies on the medial edge of the hand from the base of thumbnail to crease of wrist.

Lets first study the thumb-walking technique.  The working thumb is bent at the first joint with the outer edge of the tip of thumb making contact and is positioned as to prevent the nail from being pressed into the reflex location. (Ladies this does require shorter nails.) thumb-walking spinal reflex on hands

Step 1 – Thumb-Walking Spinal Reflex on the Right Hand

Start the spinal reflex thumb-walking at the base of the thumb nail. The pressure is applied only by the thumb not by any of the supporting fingers. Imagine the thumb is taking tiny steps towards the wrist.  There is pressure applied with each step, then pull back without loosing contact. Again take one step forward, press, and pull back.

Step 2 – Thumb-Walking Spinal Reflex on the Left Hand

Start thumb-walking the spinal reflex at the crease of the wrist and move slowly up to the base of the finger nail. This is an amazing treatment for keeping the chakras balanced.thumb-walking spinal reflex hands

foot reflexology for the feet

In Pauline Wills book, The Reflexology Manual – An Easy-to-Use Illustrated Guide to the Healing Zones of the Hands and Feet, she describes how to do a reflexology treatment on the feet or hands for the seven major chakras. Today we will look at practicing this treatment on the feet.  Please follow the diagram above for each individual chakra location. (Caution, if pregnant, please see qualified reflexologist for treatments).

foot reflexology for the chakrasBefore starting reflexology on the chakra points, lets learn more about the pivoting technique you will be using. Position thumb and finger as shown in the photo.  Use the outer edge of the thumb, press on the point and slowly and gently pivot on it, keeping your thumb in contact with the foot.

Begin with the right foot.  You will start with the crown chakra moving down to the root chakra.  Work with the pivoting technique for five to ten seconds on each chakra.  The chakras are worked in this order because energy rises from the base chakra.  Working from the crown chakra clears the pathway for the energy to rise.

Repeat treatment on left foot.

Tomorrow we will learn about the spinal reflexes treatment on the hands that the author recommends doing following the work done today with the chakra points.

Opening Your Third Eye Exercise

Opening Third Eye Exercise

I was thrilled when I discovered the following simple exercise found in Be Your Own Shaman by Deborah King for opening the third eye:

Opening Third Eye Exercise1.  Find a quiet place to relax comfortably in a chair and clear mind.

2. With the intention of opening your third eye, place your middle finger at the bridge of your nose and push up while breathing deeply.

3.  Imagine you are opening the eyelid that is located exactly between your eyebrows.  In your mind’s eye, see this chakra opening.

4.  Do this for about 60 seconds.  The goal of the exercise is not to gain information, but to practice opening the third eye chakra. As you develop this skill, you will begin to have experiences beyond the five normal senses.

5.  The key to increasing your abilities is to relax and let information come to you.  Don’t hesitate to use your imagination to picture what you hope to see while learning.

ho'oponopono peacemaking meditation

Ho’oponopono, pronounced “hoh oh pohno pohno is a Huna process that brings balance and harmony to one’s life.  It can be practiced anywhere and many ways.  This ancient healing practice was part of the long extended lomilomi training.  However, modern simplified versions are now being taught in workshops to make this exercise journey of healing and peacemaking more assessable.

Ho’oponopono healing is based on the following four statements:

ho'ponopono peacemaking meditation

The following Peacemaking Meditation is modeled after Vicki Howie’s “Heal Your Heart Chakra Using Ho’oponopono”, which you can hear on chakraboosters.com:

1. Begin lying down, rest left hand comfortably on the second chakra and the right hand on your heart. Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth and relax into a normal breathing pattern.

2. Bring attention to someone you are feeling some disconnection or discord with and place them in a beautiful place and start sending out love to this person. Visualize your heart being connected to their heart with a magnificent rainbow of colors.

3. Visualize this rainbow of colors carrying the following words back and forth to the two hearts connected. Start saying these words slowly to yourself: “I am sorry…Please forgive me…I love you…Thank you”

As you repeat these four statements, healing begins from within for yourself and the other person. Continue to repeat these statements as a mantra for as long as you feel it is needed.  This is another excellent bedtime meditation.

holding & cradling the solar plexus

This is an exercise Donna Eden shares in her book Energy Medicine Balancing Your body’s Energies for Optimal Health, Joy, and Vitality.   She tells us that having gratitude lifts our energy and is good for our health.  We can choose to select one or all the chakras for channeling our gratitude and thanksgiving when practicing this exercise.  Today we will concentrate on the Solar Plexus Chakra.

holding & cradling the solar plexus

Holding & cradling the solar plexusStart by holding your hands over your third chakra (Solar Plexus).

Bring your elbows to the sides of your body, hug and cradle the chakra like a baby.

Holding & cradling the solar plexusBring your mind’s eye into the Solar Plexus and breathe deeply.

Now is the time to send thanksgiving and gratitude to the chakra.

Holding & cradling the solar plexus

The Solar Plexus is often overactive, you can calm it with a ‘shhh’ like you would an infant.

Your body will respond.  Be open to the experience.

Remember you can cradle and express gratitude toward any chakra!

Opening the Root Chakra Exercise

September 12th, 2013 | Posted by Velda in CHAKRAS

Movements for opening the Root Chakra involves the feet, legs, and hips.  I have combined two simple exercises from the book Healing with The Energy of the Chakras by Ambika Wauters. It is more fun and enjoyable doing the Root Chakra movements to music.  It helps take away any sense of exercising.

Opening Root Chakra Exercise1. Spread your feet about a foot apart.

2. Take a deep breath through the nose, rise up on your toes, bend the knees, then come down on heels. At the same time release your breath and let out a sound. I like to visualize my heels as roots going into the ground.

3. Repeat several times.  Emphasis on the downward movements of the heels.

4. Next walk on your toes with your arms raised in the air.  Shake your hips from side to side. Feel free to sway your arms with the music.

5. This exercise is grounding and allows energy to flow through you freely.  ”Your soul is on the bottoms of your feet”, a quote by Gabrielle Roth, a modern American Shaman, dancer, and teacher.

Archetypes and Chakras

chakras and archetypes

Each chakra has a positive and a negative archetype corresponding to the qualities and challenges associated with that chakra.  The more responsibility we take for our personal archetypes, the more energy we have available for our health, creativity, and joy.  The following information is covered by author Ambika Wauters  in, The Book of Chakras – Discover the Hidden Forces within you:
