Brow Chakra – Insight and Visualization

February 5th, 2013 | Posted by Velda in CHAKRAS

The Brow or Third Eye Chakra is located in the center of the forehead just above the eye brows and is about insight and visualization.  This is where our inner wisdom is housed.  The Brow Chakra is related to our ability to see and focus on the big picture. When this chakra is open and balanced we have good intuition, experience overall good health, clear thinking and it allows us to see beyond our physical existence. If our Brow Chakra is unbalanced,  we can experience problems with fatigue, day dreaming, sleep problems, and confusion.  With an over active Brow Chakra one could immerse in a world of fantasy and even experience hallucinations.

sithchakrainsight&visualizationEating dark bluish colored fruits:  blueberries, red grapes, black berries, raspberries, etc. helps awaken Brow or Third Eye Chakra.  Other things you can do to increase the indigo vibrational energy:  practice meditation to develop your intuition; use aroma therapeutic essential oils such as Patchouli, Myrrh, Sandalwood, and Clary Sage for balancing chakra;  all the indigo colored gemstones (Azurite, Tourmaline, Tanzanite, Indigo, etc.) are associated with the Third Eye Chakra; adding indigo colors to your wardrobe can help with the flow of energy; and last choosing classical music can also enhance the energies flowing to the Third Eye.

Open Heart Chakra, Love, Kindness & Affection

January 22nd, 2013 | Posted by Velda in CHAKRAS

The Open Heart Chakra is about love, kindness, and affection.  However  many emotions, such as love, hatred, grief, joy, jealousy, fear of betrayal, feelings of isolation and loneliness and the ability to make ourselves feel better, are all centered in the Heart Chakra.  When it is open, we are compassionate and friendly, and work at harmonious relationships.  If our Heart Chakra is under-active, we can be cold and distant.  If this chakra is over-active, we are suffocating people with love and possibly for selfish reasons.

heartchakralovekindnessaffectionThe healing colors for the Heart Chakra are green and rose.

The flowers for the Heart Chakra are roses.

Heart Chakra Affirmations are about Unconditional love.

The healthy Heart Chakra is all about Vegetables and Fruit.

What Does Our Solar Plexus Need?

January 11th, 2013 | Posted by Velda in CHAKRAS

The Solar Plexus Chakra is our personal power chakra.   This is the area that defines our ‘self-esteem’.  When the energy of your Solar Plexus is balanced and unblocked, you feel confident, valued, unique and energetic.  The personality that develops during puberty is housed in this chakra which is known as the ‘EGO’.  The unbalanced Solar Plexus energy often has the need to manipulate or to be controlled by others or to be angry.  Because this chakra is a great network of nerves that goes out to all parts of the abdominal cavity and has been sometimes called the ‘abdominal brain’, and can be highly affected by stress.

What does your 3rd Chakra need?  A healthy Solar Plexus vibrates at a frequency similar to the color yellow, therefore adding more yellow foods to your diet can help balance this chakra.  I bet you weren’t aware that a great exercise for the Solar Plexus is using a hula hoop and dancing.  Gemstones for the Solar Plexus include:  Adventurine – balances energy, boosts well-being; Topaz – encourages confidence; Yellow Citrine -lets you access your personal power and Amber (for more details).  What this chakra really loves is a ‘Genie in the Bottle’ belly rub!

These are the last three areas of the Emotional Energy Centers of the Body to be covered.  Previous posts looked at the Root Chakra’s attributes along with appropriate healing gemstones, colors, and affirmations.

rootchakrasurvivalcenterOn the EEC diagram the Survival Center deals with survival issues such as feeling we won’t survive a life-threatening event, violation related to surviving (accidents, abuse, violence, rape), and first year of life-basic creativity.  The Rejection area is on the right side of the body across from the Root Chakra and holds abandonment issues, criticism, judgment by others, self-rejection, and pain in the heart.  On the left side of the body across from the Root Chakra is the Betrayal Area and holds feelings of betrayal by someone trusted and self-betrayal.

One can release negative energies from these areas by writing down your emotions on a piece of paper and symbolically burn them away.  You want to keep the Root Chakra balanced and energized.  This might be the best time after writing down your emotions to connect with your inner child and dance.   Dancing, stomping and jogging into place balances and energizes the Root Chakra and can be great fun especially think tribal type dancing or belly dancing!!!!!!

The area around the Sacral Chakra is also referred to on the EEC diagram as the Sexuality-Creativity Center or the Old Stuff Center.  The emotional issues that  possibly need healing in this emotional center could be:  relationship issues, childhood conditioning, violation of body and personal space, something done to us – taken from us without permission or sexual disturbance.   I have found working with women that this chakra requires a great deal of attention.

I have covered the Sacral Chakra in several categories and

highly recommend that you revisit

Sacral Chakra – Passion and Pleasure

December 10th, 2012 | Posted by Velda in CHAKRAS

The Sacral Chakra is located approximately one inch below the navel.  It governs the energy of creativity, pleasure, sexuality, sensuality, and emotions.  A healthy Sacral Chakra allows us to ‘go with the flow’ of life.  A person with an open Sacral Chakra is passionate, present in her body, sensual, creative and connected to her feelings. A person with an under-active Sacral Chakra tends to be stiff, unemotional and not very open to other people.  If this Chakra is over-active, a person could be emotional all the time.  They feel emotionally attached to people and can be very sexual.

The Sacral Chakra resonates with the color orange and the element of water.  Orange colored gemstones stimulates the energy of this chakra.  Some of the recommended gemstones are Carnelian, Orange Jasper, Tiger’s Eye and Fire Opal.  Healing foods for the Sacral Chakra are fish (especially wild-caught salmon), tropical fruits, seeds, nuts, and orange-colored foods (oranges, tangerines, carrots, etc.)

childcrayondrawingYes, it is up to you to interpret your drawing.  Here are a few questions:  1.  How empty or full is the picture? 2.  What colors did you choose?treedrawnbychild  This drawing represents your life and the tree represents you.  3.  What does your drawing say about how you feel about your environment and yourself?  4. Are you blooming?  Are you waning?  5.  How important are you in the scheme of things?

I hope you keep this drawing to refer to when we start exploring the chakra system.  This can be a important clue to chakra energy healing needed.   Stay tuned.

I like Dr. Bernie S. Siegel’s Exercise 58 in his book 101 Exercises for the Soul.  This is fun homework.

Get yourself a big box of crayons and a drawing tablet.

This is a wonderful tool for self-expression.

Step One:  Draw a picture of an outdoor scene, and include a tree in your art piece.

Let your inner-child come out to play.

Oh, yes and Step Two “What does creative vision say about you?

  Tune in Tomorrow!
