This completes the seven series exploring Inna Segal’s Process to Enhance Healthy Emotions and including the Ten Basic Principles for Healing in her book ‘The Secret Language of Your Body’.  The last principle is Principle 10 Make laughter a priority.  The benefits of laughter are so great that laughing for laughter’s sake has become the motto for countless people all over the world who participate in “laughter clubs.”  There is even laughter yoga, which teaches specific laughter exercises.  Looking at life from a humorous angle allows you to let go of stress and heal faster.  Now begin the exercises by finding a quiet comfortable location and body position.  Breathe deeply for several moments.  Keep a notepad and pen nearby to write down insights that may come to you in the process.

1.  Say:  “Divine Healing Intelligence, embrace me with your radiant gold beam of satisfaction, happiness, contentment, and delight.  Allow me to feel confident that I am moving in the perfect direction for my life.  Help me to recognize and celebrate all the wonderful things I have achieved, all the magnificent people with whom I have connected, and all the rich experiences I have lived.  As I recognize the grandness of my life, I feel truly blessed.  Thank you.”

2.  Repeat the word “CLEAR” several times until you feel lighter.

3.  Satisfaction comes from celebrating life and its enriching experiences.  Rather than focusing on what you don’t have enough of, concentrate on all the things you are blessed with–even the ability to move your hands to pick up a pen, write a journal entry, read a book, or share your special gift with the world.  You may simply celebrate the fact that you are alive, that the sun comes up each day, that the birds sing.  Embrace and show your satisfaction, and you will see how things start to grow and develop in your life at an accelerated rate.

1.  Say:  Divine Healing Intelligence, please encircle me with your ray of gentle, supportive, and uplifting gold light.  Infuse me with compassion, understanding, kindness, and wisdom.  Help me become considerate, thoughtful, and forgiving.  Transform any jealousy I feel into encouragement and happiness for other people’s good fortune.  As I become thankful for my own and other people’s fortuity, reward me with magnificent, abundant surprises.  Thank you.”

3.  Focus your attention on how you can support and encourage others to be their best.  Concentrate on being happy for other people’s success.  The happier you can be about someone doing well, the more likely you will open the gateway for your own good fortune.  Every day, when you are walking down the street, practice seeing everyone who passes a great success.  You may even say an affirmation.  “You are a success.”

3.  Everyone has a different idea of what defines success.  For some, it is about accumulating great wealth, becoming good at what they do, having children, being healthy, or having great relationships.  Whatever success means to you, appreciate the success you already have in your life.  It is much easier to build on success when you already have some.  And even if the success is small, acknowledge it and move forward with confidence.

3.  Focus on receiving.  This means that if someone gives you a compliment, a gift, a raise, or praise, take a moment to really receive this and acknowledge yourself.  Every day, begin to recognize that which is good, positive, and beautiful in your life.  Do this by writing it in a journal and affirming it to yourself every morning before you get out of bed.  Learn to recognize great things as they occur in your life.Series #6 - Path To Enhancing Emotions

3.  Look at your life and become aware of where you honor, validate, and make empowering choices, and where you do not honor and respect yourself.  When you are aware of the areas you need to work on, you can begin healing, changing, and transforming.  Use this Respect Process often to help you release shame and welcome respect.

We continue author Inna Segal’s exercises enhancing healthy emotions by first looking at her next Ten Basic Principles for Healing. Principle 7:  Be Creative.  Creativity allows you to relax, have fun, and explore.  When people are creative, they are often more inspired, imaginative, and resourceful.  Principle 8:  Add More Color To Your Life.  Colors can make people feel heavy, depressed, and fatigued or light, vibrant, and joyful.  Become aware of the colors that make you feel great and the qualities they have, and then add these colors to your life.  Now begin the exercises by finding a quiet comfortable location and body position.  Breathe deeply for several moments.  Keep a notepad and pen nearby to write down insights that may come to you in the process.

1.  Say:  ”Divine Healing Intelligence, using the joyous ray of sunlight, please bring happiness, confidence, vitality, and vivacity into my life.  Help me become more exuberant, energetic, and dynamic.  Flood me with your light, and allow my life to flow with ease, harmony, and grace.  Help me connect deeply with the Divinity of life, and have access to limitless spiritual nourishment, inspiration, joy, and love.  Help me open my heart fully to experience deep warmth, affection, compassion, and openness while knowing from the depth of my soul that I am loved, cherished, and cared for.  Grant me the faith to know that I am not alone and will always be looked after.  Thank you.”

3.  People experience joy when their hearts are open to give and receive love.  No matter who you are, you have the ability to contribute to others – to touch and warm their hearts.  If you would like to experience more joy, focus on what you can do or say to inspire someone else, and then become aware of your heart opening.  When people are joyful, they are connected to the Divine Source of love.  Each day, communicate with that spiritual part of you.  Listen to this Divine aspect of yourself, and allow it to guide you.Series #5 - Path To Enhancing Emotions

Lets review the author’s next two principles of her Ten Basic Principles of Healing before looking at her following three exercises.  Principle 5: Move Your Body.  Regular exercise can help you to feel better about yourself, to enjoy your body, to have more energy, to detoxify, and to heal.  Principle 6: Listen To Your Body.   What are your cycles?   Take a break for a few minutes every couple of hours.  Stretching, deep breathing, or even a short meditation can make the difference between feeling tired, stagnant, and stressed or feeling healthy, creative, and relaxed.  Now begin the exercises by finding a quiet comfortable location and body position.  Breathe deeply for several moments.  Keep a notepad and pen nearby to write down insights that may come to you in the process.Series #4 - Path to Enhancing Emotions1.  Say: “Divine Healing Intelligence, please shine your yellow ray of happiness into every aspect of my being, energizing, brightening, and revitalizing me.  Awaken laughter, joy, and fun in my life.  Bring back my optimism, inner strength, and pleasure.  Sweep through every cell in my body, awakening, enlivening, and renewing it. 3.  Happiness is a choice.  Make a decision to welcome happiness, joy, and laughter into your life.  Ask yourself, “What am I happy about now?”  Many people caught up in life’s problems stop nurturing themselves and having fun.  Joy, happiness, and fun keep us healthy, energized and enthusiastic.  So, start planning fun things to do.  Notice in every moment what gives you pleasure, even if you are stuck in traffic or standing in line at the store.Series #3 - Path To Enhancing Emotions

3.  Allow yourself to connect to and focus on that which is pure, like babies, flowers, animals, spiritual teachings.  Also wear green and white for a few days, or visualize those colors bathing your body.

1.  Imagine the person you are now ready to forgive.  Remember, you are doing the process more for yourself than for someone else, as when you forgive, you are forgiving and letting go of a destructive emotion.  This does not mean that you condone any harmful words or actions from this person; you are just letting go of the pain or discomfort you are carrying that was caused by this person.

2.  Say:  “Divine Healing Intelligence, I call on the blue-white flame of forgiveness to help me let go of all harmful ties between me and (insert the name of the person or experience that has kept you stuck.)  Please release all the resentment, anger, hurt, and distrust between us.  Dear (insert name) I forgive you for (state the source of your hurt or anger.”)

If appropriate, say, “I ask you to forgive me for (state what you would like to be forgiven for).  I ask that all harmful energies be dissolved by the blue-white flame of forgiveness, purifying our hearts and minds, freeing us wholly.  Please fill us with Divine Love and compassion.  Thank you.”

3. Repeat the word “CLEAR” several times until you feel lighter.

4.  Imagine that all resentment is releasing from your heart and soul.  Allow the blue-white flame of forgiveness to dissolve all harmful ties between you and the other person(s).  When the density has released, continue to focus on filling your heart with Divine Love and compassion.  You may need to do this process several times in order to complete forgiveness.Series #3 - Path To Enhancing Emotions

1.   Say: “Divine Healing Intelligence, please re-energize my consciousness with your violet ray of freedom.  Allow me to experience the freedom of choice, confidence, and self-expression.  Help me become independent, make empowering decisions, and pursue my dreams.  Help me live my life free of internal chains and conflict that limit my self-expression and exploration of life.  Place me in an environment that gives me the freedom to discover my passion and the means to pursue it.  Guide me to my own Divinity and discover my greatness.  Thank you.”

3.  The first step to freedom is recognizing that you have a choice.  Each person has the freedom to view the world from whatever perspective he or she choose.  Focus on appreciating where you have freedom, and work toward letting go of inner limitation and conflict. where you do not.

She writes “Healing” means wholeness.  In order to heal on all levels, we must  consider all aspects that make great health possible.  Principle 1:  Commit to making your health a priority.  Principle 2:  Feel your emotions instead of keeping them buried.  Now begin the exercises by finding a quiet comfortable location and body position.  Breathe deeply for several moments.  Keep a notepad and pen nearby to write down insights that may come to you in the process.

1.  Say:  “Divine Healing Intelligence, I call on the pure white ray of honor to raise my opinion of myself, my life force energy, and my spirit.  Pour your  healing light into every part of me that feels, lost, broken, weak, and dispirited.  Surround me with encouragement, praise, inner knowing, and harmony.  Bring me into a holy relationship with myself so that I can truly know my heart and soul.  Thank you.”

3.  Focus on praise rather than criticism.  Become aware of how you are thinking. Are you criticizing or encouraging yourself and others?  Practice on building up your self-esteem.  Be kind you yourself when you make mistakes.

1.  Say:  “Divine Healing Intelligence, fill me with your deep magenta ray for faith.  Allow the spirit of wisdom, courage, and Divine Love to surround and uplift me.  Help me to believe in myself and to develop my ability to courageously deal with challenging situations, while still having faith that I am loved and protected.  Awaken the clearest and purest intentions in me so that I can use my gifts and abilities for the greatest good of all.  Help me to have faith and pray for Divine Intervention,  even in the darkest circumstances.   Show me on a daily basis how a little faith and kindness can move mountains and transform lives.  Thank you.”

3.  When we have faith, we tune into the unseen, mystical world we live in.  We believe without needing to touch or physically see the results.  There is a inner knowing that assures us that help is on its way.  When we have faith we also have courage to follow our dreams and to make them come true.  Think about what you would love to experience but have been to afraid to take a step forward.

1.  Say: Divine Healing Intelligence, I call on the green-white ray of rejuvenation to clear and recharge all levels of my consciousness.  Please regenerate my flexibility, movement, and circulation to its full vitality.  Awaken my creativity, understanding, and compassion.  Allow love, healing, and abundance to flow freely into my life.  Thank You.”

3.  In order to bring more flexibility and movement into your life, you must be willing to move your body and become more flexible.  A great way to do that is to focus on relaxing your body and mind while allowing inspiration to flow.  Dance can help you loosen up, have fun, and free your soul.  Put on some relaxing music, stand up, and imagine that you are a wave in the middle of the ocean.  Allow yourself to get into the flow, and move as you concentrate on ease, flexibility, openness, receptivity, appreciation, acceptance, and allowance.

Visualizing & Strengthening Our Aura

Visualizing & Strengthening Our AuraThe Human Aura is an energy field that surrounds human beings. It is directly connected to the energy vortices of the body’s seven chakras.

Ted Andrews discusses several ways we can vitalize and strengthen our personal aura in his book, How To See and Read The Aura. In Chapter One, he reports the aura is weakened by the following:  poor diet, lack of exercise, lack of fresh air, lack of rest, stress, alcohol, drugs, tobacco, negative habits, and improper psychic activity.

Here are his simple suggestions for vitalizing and strengthening the human aura: Sunlight strengthens the auric field;  Physical exercise and fresh air are extremely vitalizing to the aura; Eating less food but more frequently has a more balanced effect upon the aura; Keeping the bowels clean assists in keeping the aura strong and resilient; Meditation is strengthening and protective; and music or chanting can be used to balance and strengthen the auric field.

 Here are four steps to an Aura Strengthening Meditation.  Spend 3-5 minutes per step:

  1. Breathe deeply and slowly at first, sensing the presence of the bioenergy “life force” within you.
  2. Feel this energy flowing through you and imagine that it’s cleansing you.
  3. Visualize this energy within your body radiating more and more. See if you can see/sense the color of the energy.
  4. While visualizing the energy (and color if possible), direct this nourishing energy to the area of the body that needs healing (e.g. areas of the body where pain resides, or feels weak).

I thought it would be interesting to look at two of Dr. Bernie S. Siegel’s Simple Practices for a Healthy Body, Mind and Spirit that he shares in his book 101 Exercises For The Soul.   It is always great to add exercises for one’s healing journey.  

Exercise #46 – Tools For Healing – Start A Treasure Chest

Dr. Siegel points out that when we have bad days and if feels like “life suck’s”, most of us need help finding our way.  With this exercise, you can identify and gather up the tools you need.  1.  What tools would help?  Material and physical tools can be helpful (take a walk, visit a special place, read a book, or go to a movie. ).  2.  What emotional and spiritual tools can you rely on?  (These may include a relative, a friend, meditate, prayer, or listen to nature ). 3.  Write down your list of resource tools on slips of paper. This can be anything that gives you joy.  Take a small box, label it your Treasure Chest, and place the slips in for safekeeping.  4.  In times of distress or trouble, open your chest and take out the tools you need.  5.  Place your Treasure Chest where you will see it every day.

Exercise #77 – Put Your Fears Away - Storage Box

Dr. Bernie S. Siegel points out in  this exercise how many of us become preoccupied with our fears and worries.   He states that there is a lot to be said for the saying “Out of sight, out of mind.”  We don’t want to become unconscious of our fears and the way they affect us.  However, for this exercise we will create a new home for them.  1.  Pick out a special box and create a sanctuary for your fears and worries. 2.  Each time you notice fear surfacing write it down.  3.   Include what you are afraid of, the event that created the feeling, and how it challenges your peace of mind.  4.   Visualize that once these fears are locked in the box, they are turned over to divine guardians for safe keeping.   5.  Your fears will eventually dissolve, and when they do, discard the notes related to them in a ceremonial dumping, burning or burying.  Hopefully you will no longer have to see or feel the discarded fears ever again.

Remove Fear Freom Body With Color

There are many ways to introduce and use color for helping to remove fear from the body.  Below is a Color Chart showing what fear is held by different body locations and what color to use.  Here are simple suggestions how to introduce colors recommended for specific body fear:

1.   Pick up color felt swatches at local craft store.  These can be cut to any size, however, (no smaller than  4″ x 4″ works best).  Take some quiet time and place your felt on the needed area(s).

2.  Take time to relax and place appropriate colored stones on the areas that need attention is also very helpful.  I would recommend repeating as often as needed.

3.  Try relaxing during quiet time and practice visualizing breathing color needed to help heal the body fear you are holding.  There is nothing wrong with working with all three of these suggestions together.

How To Worry Smarter

Today I stumbled across Dr. Beverly Potter’s little book,  The Worrywart’s Companion, Twenty-one Ways To Soothe Yourself and Worry Smart.  How many of us would be a more balanced woman, if we could only worry smarter?  The author points out that “Worrywarts worry themselves sick”,  and like a mantra, silently chant their fears.  However, it doesn’t bring serenity, it only generates anxiety and we know the emotional mind can trigger disease.

How To Worry Smarter

Healthy coping requires a balance of different thinking styles.  Creativity expert Edward DeBono in, The Six Thinking Hats, identified six basic styles of thinking: objective, emotive, supportive, possibility, critical, and strategic. Negative worrying habits can be replaced when practicing any of the following different thinking styles to provide a constructive mental approach dealing with worrisome situations.  For each style of thinking there is a corresponding question.  Asking this question will automatically set the corresponding thinking style in motion.

Practice Flexible Thinking

Objective Thinking:  Ask yourself  “What are the facts?”  Practicing objective thinking helps bring you back into balance.  It reminds you that the actual facts are not the same as the disastrous scenarios envisioned when worrywarting.

Emotive Thinking:  Ask yourself  ”What am I feeling?”  Look at all of your feelings, whether or not they seem justified, make sense, and even contradict each other.  Physical sensations can be linked to emotions.  It also is important to consider your preferences of likes, dislikes, values and desires, which are ways of looking at what you want or don’t want out of a situation.How To Worry Smarter

Supportive ThinkingAsk yourself  “What is working?”  Supportive thinking looks at the positive aspects of a situation and focuses on ways to enhance them.  Supportive thinking often feels unnatural to worrywarts who tend to focus on weaknesses, what’s wrong, what’s not working.  Engaging in supportive thinking brings you back to a more balanced view of the situation.

Possibility ThinkingAsk yourself “What’s possible here?”  When engaged in possibility thinking, let your creativity run.    Don’t try to be logical or realistic.  The key is to allow your mind the unfettered imaginative freedom of a child at play.  Avoid critiquing your ideas.  Even the most unrealistic or implausible scenarios often contain seeds of valuable new ideas which in the end turn out to have practical applications.How To Worry Smarter

Critical Thinking:  Ask yourself  “What’s wrong? What could go wrong?”  Critical thinking is where worrywarts get stuck.  It looks for what is wrong and is linear and logical.  However, critical thinking is an important skill.  Without the ability to make an accurate assessment of the real risks in a worrisome situation, you are likely to encounter many avoidable difficulties.  In order for critical thinking to be helpful, it must occur within the context of a full range of thinking skills.

Strategic ThinkingAsk yourself  “What’s the next step?”  Once you have engaged each of the preceding five thinking styles, you will have identified the facts of the worrisome situation.  Hopefully you have determined how you feel about it, what you want and what you don’t want to happen.  Final step is to view the worrisome situation from a detached perspective.  Chances are your next step will be some combination of the six thinking styles.  Keep practicing Flexible Thinking, it will become easier.How To Worry Smarter
