Inner Energy Affirmations

The affirmation exercises illustrated below are used in Sahaja Yoga to bring attention  inside and above your head where meditation occurs.  They awaken your inner energy and are helpful prior to meditating.  Here are the simple directions for Inner Energy Affirmations:

1.  Make your self comfortable before starting.  Take a few deep breaths and relax.  2.  Use your right hand and place on the left side of your body as shown in each illustration.  3.  Keep your attention on the right hand, while you say each affirmation. In that way your attention will also rise as your hand does.  4.  Repeat each one a few times silently inside with sincerity.  Using these exact words is not as important as the meaning.   Say what feels right to you.  ENJOY!

Nature's Healing Gift-Meditation Space

(This photo is looking out at the Cascades and Lake Sammamish)

Meditating with the outdoors helps us resonate with the healing gift of Nature.  Often being mesmerized by the healing colors of a sunrise can be viewed through a window which I find very meditating.  These experiences wake something up inside of us, and help to set our lives into a more natural rhythm. Nature lovers have discovered this secret without ever studying meditation!

Nature's Healing Gift-Meditation Space

Consider finding a quiet or secluded space, to practice the following meditation:

 Nature Meditation-Eyes Closed

1.  Find a comfortable position sitting or lying down. Begin with a few deep breaths, breathing deep into the belly and relax.  Close your eyes notice how your body feels, as well as the activity of your mind and emotions. Experience whatever is present without resisting anything or trying to change it. Do this for about a minute.

2.  Bring your awareness to the surroundings. Feel the temperature of the air on your skin, created by possibly a breeze and the sun. Listen to Nature’s symphony —birds, bees, crickets, flowing water, and leaves rustling.  For the rest of the meditation, continue to experience these feelings and sounds.

3.  As you meditate, focus on where your attention is naturally drawn.   If it is a bird’s song, notice the quality of the sound.  Don’t analyze the sound and label it with your mind — simply notice it.   Whenever your mind becomes absorbed in thoughts, easily bring it back to the sounds and sensations of being in Nature.  Enjoy this meditation for as long as you want.

Heart Breath Practice

Heart Breath Practice

I wanted to complete the February heart theme with the following Heart Breath Practice that is from the amazing book, Planetary Healing Spirit Medicine for Global Transformation, by Nicki Scully and Mark Hallert:

Heart Breath PracticeRelax.  Close your eyes and take a couple of deep, calming breaths.  Focus on your heart.  Look within and find the eternal flame of your being that dwells in the sanctuary of your heart center.  This flame is the  spark of your Soul that endures throughout time.

Heart Breath Practice

As you bring your heart flame into focus, access whatever inner senses are available to you—sight, hearing, feeling, knowing, imagination…then activate feelings of love in your heart and use those feelings to feed your heart flame.  Love is the fuel.

HEart Breath Practice

Feel love in your heart. It brightens, it intensifies, it spreads warmth and light throughout your being.  Breathe as though you are drawing vitality from the heart of the Earth.  Breathe in energy from all the elements, minerals and plants.  Hold your breath for a moment while the intelligence of Earth mingles with the love that you continue to pour on your heart flame.

Heart Breath PracticeAs you exhale, the charged energy radiates out from the heart center, igniting every cell with life-force energy and love.  Take several deep Earth Breaths—simultaneously extend your consciousness upward toward the heart of the cosmos.  You are inhaling power from the Earth and drawing vitality from all the heavenly bodies and the intelligence that permeates the universe.

Heart Breath PracticeHold your breath for a moment as these energies combine with love.  With each out-breath, experience the growing life-force energy, intelligence, love, and radiance that extend throughout your body and beyond.  When you feel in that perfect place of equilibrium between Earth and Sky, you can meditate quietly within this glow until you are ready to open your eyes…

Standing In The Forest Meditation

Standing In The Forest Meditation

This meditation is based on imitating the characteristics of a tree.  When you walk through a forest of trees do you consider how the trees stand still and upright, with their roots running deep into the ground?  Do you feel the synergy between the plants and animals?Standing In The Forest Mediation

I invite you to practice the following meditation in the moonlight or sunrays to experience more FOREST  AWARENESS:

Standing In The Forest Meditation

1.   During forest meditation, focus on becoming one with the natural world.

2.  Stay absolutely still and maintain that posture for as long as possible.

3.  Visualize the mystical and magical qualities of the forest.

4.  Listen for the harmonizing sounds of the neighboring animals.

5.  When ready to emerge from the forest, take a deep breath and continue walking.

6.  Hopefully you saw, felt, and heard more by standing still and being one with the trees.

Apaan Mudra-Detoxify, purify, Energize

Mudras help to channel the flow of energy through the body.  The five fingers represent the five elements:
Apaan Mudra-Detoxify, Purify, EnergizeThumb – Fire.
Index – Air.
Middle – Ether or the spaces between cells within the body.
Ring – Earth.
Pinky – Water.

From a yoga scientific perspective, electromagnetic currents in the body are brought into balance by joining fingers in a variety of ways. Accordingly, a mudra is believed to affect the flow of energy or prana through the body.

The Apaan Mudra is known as the purification mudra.  It cleanses the body and thus helps in elimination of waste matter from nose, mouth, ears and eyes. It is very useful in case of stomachache, constipation, and urinary problems.

Here are the simple directions for using the Apaan Mudra:

1.  Stand or sit up straight.  2. Bend middle, ring fingers and thumb so that their tips are touching.  Index and little fingers are pointing straight.  3.  The Apaan Mudra is usually performed with both hands and held for at least 30 minutes. (You can divide it into three sessions of 10 to 15 minutes).

4. Make sure that you perform this mudra with both the hands.

Acceptance Mudra

September 12th, 2014 | Posted by Velda in ENERGY HEALING | MEDITATIONS & MUDRAS

Acceptance Mudra

To Use Acceptance Mudra:  Keep the Acceptance Mudra position for at least a couple of minutes. It is usually more effective to  hold a while longer, like 15 minutes or so. You might spread that time over the day, but you could also make it part of meditation.  Use the finger-positions with both hands, at the same time. This will have a more powerful effect than doing the mudra with just one hand.

Hand Position:  The index finger is folded into the space between thumb and this finger, so that the nail touches the fold. The outer lower corner of the thumb’s nail touches the inner lower corner of the pinky finger’s nail.

Emotional /Spiritual Use:  To overcome sadness or an unnecessary resistance to situations.   This mudra can help you to get into a mood of acceptance.

Reminder:  Hold the finger positions with both hands, for at least a couple of minutes.

Feminine Body Blessing Exercise

The following Body Blessing Exercise is from Tami Kent’s book, Wild Feminine, Finding Power, Spirit & Joy in the Female Body.  Hopefully you will take time to honor yourself and experience the feminine healing power when repeating these blessings. I use this exercise as a reading meditation.

Body Blessing Exercise

Bless my feet and legs; let them walk with the grounding energy of the earth.

Bless my pelvis that, I may hold my values as a woman,

make space for my creations, and release what no longer belongs with me.

Bless my vagina; may I be clear about what I bring into or release from my body or life.

Bless my feminine organs,

that I use my creative potential in ways that are beneficial and sustainable for my spirit.

Bless my belly; may I be in my place of feminine power.

Bless my hands and arms; may they cultivate and receive a joyful bounty.

Bless my heart and chest,

that I receive and give fully the love I share with others.

Bless my breasts, that I nourish myself as lovingly as I nourish my creations.

Bless my throat and head; may I speak my truth and clarify my visions.

Bless the paths behind and ahead of me,

that they may transform what I carry into the future.

Bless the place I now stand as a woman;

may I be fully present in my body and life and celebrate the blessings of this moment.

Little Finger Energy #5 Meditation

The second chakra, which is the energetic center of sexuality, is associated with the little finger.  It deals with interpersonal relationships and the ability to communicate.  Chinese practitioners find the heart meridian to be in this finger.  Joyful, fulfilling relationships not only warm the heart, but also nourish and strengthen it.  In turn, strong heart energy gives us the ability to be happy.  Our mood, which is always the sum of present feelings, can be compared to the waves on the surface of a lake.  (They are rhythmically-harmonious or vehement; the water is clear and clean, or shallow, heavy, dark, and dirty).

Little Finger Energy #5 Meditation

Thus the importance of the following Little Finger Exercise:

1.  Sit or lie down.  Encircle your left little finger with the four fingers of your right hand.  Close your eyes. Visualize you are sitting by the sea and observing the waves—they come toward you, and roll back out and disappear.  The same applies to your feelings, moods, and relationships with others.

2.  Bring awareness to giving and receiving love.  You only receive as much love as you can unconditionally give. This doesn’t necessarily mean great deeds. A friendly, warm heart for fellow human beings, animals, plants, water, air, and earth are entirely enough.

3.  Happily think of someone that might need some encouragement.  Believe in this individual’s abilities and good heart.  Imagine entire scenes in which this person is cheerful and loving themselves.Little Finger Energy #5 Meditation

4.  Now visualize yourself radiating from goodwill and unconditional love throughout your body.  If difficult, have patience.  Time will come when your heart will overflow with joy.

5.  Continue holding your little finger for a while and feel the flowing warmth.  Then encircle your right finger and hold it for the same amount of time.
