hope fly

Let Hope Fly

Hope is the thing with feathers

That perches in the soul

And sings the tune without the words

And never stops at all.

– Emily Dickinson (1830-1886)

Emily Dickinson is a renowned poet, however, she had only two poems published in her lifetime.  Her sister recovered 100s of Ms. Dickinson’s poetry after her death.

The Hummingbird Totem reminds us to forever seek out the good in life and beauty in everyday.  Also the hummingbird name comes from the vibration of its wings – it reminds us that humming vibration  creates an internal message of restoring health & balance.

qoute by Patanjali inspired by som great purpose

“When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all of your thoughts break their bonds, your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction and you find yourself in a new great and wonderful world.  Dormant forces, faculties, and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.”

Patanjali (He is credited with the creation and compilation of the Yoga Sutras).

 honoring women's beauty

“By plucking her petals,

You do not gather the

beauty of the flower.”

Rubindrath Tagore – May 7, 1861 – August 7, 1941

Nobel Prize in Literature 1913

I dedicate this quote to all women that had petals plucked but they never lost their beauty. I also honor them for making the path easier for my journey and hopefully speak for many of my clients and readers of this blog. Thank you.

seven fold journey by anodea judith & selene vega

One of the most helpful and challenging books for me to read was The Sevenfold Journey, Reclaiming Mind, Body & Spirit Through The Chakras, by Anodea Judith & Selene Vega.  This book was written from the material used for workshop courses taught by these two women.  The authors’ book is now included by many alternative healing schools in their curriculum.  Each chapter has journal exercises.  I did find these assignments challenging, sometimes difficult to face my truth, but when completed, I gained a new awareness of myself and my body.

chakra body map exerciseHere is an example of Journal Exercise:  Chakra Body Map from The Seven Fold Journey, Introduction page 32.

“On a large piece of paper draw an outline of your body.  Don’t worry about whether it is artistic or perfect.  Color in the figure with crayons or colored pencils, letting the colors represent how that part of you feels.  Let the colors flow outside of your body where you feel most free, show the blocks where you experience them with dark or angular shapes.  Ask yourself how connected you feel with your ground, with the earth.  How connected with spirit?  How connected is your heart?  Try not to overly intellectualize but to feel it.  Acknowledge your feelings without judging yourself…When your picture is complete, look at it as a whole.  What impressions does it give you?  How do you feel about what you are looking at?  Do you feel compassion, judgment, attraction, sorrow, satisfaction?”

(I used a long piece of butcher paper and asked a friend to trace me.  I started dissecting this exercise a little at a time.  Then all of sudden I was lost in the exercise.  I was shocked how much time spent and what I discovered.)

james allen quote harmonious adjustment

When I am drawn to quotes, I generally do a quick research on the author.  This author James Allen (1864-1912) was a British philosophical writer known for his inspirational books, poetry, and as a pioneer of the self-help movement.  I am amazed how current this late 1800′s message is for today’s woman. Feel free to change gender from masculine to feminine as you read the following quote:

“A MAN IS NOT RIGHTLY CONDITIONED UNTIL HE IS A HAPPY, HEALTHY, AND PROSPEROUS BEING; AND HAPPINESS, HEALTH, AND PROSPERITY ARE THE RESULT OF A HARMONIOUS ADJUSTMENT OF THE INNER WITH THE OUTER, OF MAN WITH HIS SURROUNDINGS.”

≈ James Allen

AND TO MERGE AND BECOME

ONE WITH IT,

IS THE ONLY TRUE REALIZATION.

A WARMTH AND A RICHNESS OF LIFE

HEALING MAY NOT BE SO MUCH ABOUT GETTING BETTER,

AS ABOUT LETTING GO OF EVERYTHING THAT ISN’T YOU -

ALL OF THE EXPECTATION, ALL OF THE BELIEFS -

AND BECOMING WHO YOU ARE.
