Today while doing some research on relieving holiday stress I found this lovely book by Lori Lite called Sea Otter Cove. It is a relaxation story, introducing breathing to decrease anxiety, stress, anger and help promote peaceful sleep. You don’t have to be a child to receive benefits from following what the sea child told the sea otter. She recommended: the sea otter to breathe in through his nose and out through his nose. He was to focus all of his attention on the tip of his nose. They did the breathing together – breathing in 2, 3, 4…out 2, 3, 4, in 2, 3, 4…out 2, 3, 4. I have been practicing this exercise for 3 weeks and it has helped my irregular sleep patterns and stress.
One of my favorite things to do especially during the holidays is read a children’s classic. I was told years ago that this is a great stress reliever for adults. I remember the first classic I reread was ‘The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis. Can you remember one of your favorite stories? YOU MIGHT WANT TO TRY REREADING IT! I promise you will truly enjoy the experience.
