What Is Your Emotion Color Today?Studies show that the colors a person surrounds themselves with can have an effect on that person’s emotional state. Colors have certain wavelengths, which can be felt and experienced.  Emotions have certain wavelengths, which you can also feel and directly experience.  We describe certain emotions (seeing red, feeling blue, green with envy), there’s no denying that color and mood are inextricably linked.

Colors can make us feel happy or sad… they can make us feel hungry or relaxed.  Here is today’s opportunity (not challenge).  Look at the Color Emotion Chart below and select where you are today.  Are you satisfied? GREAT! If not, would you want to change your emotion?  What color could you introduce through either your wardrobe, selecting a designated colored gemstone for the day, or meditating on your new chosen color to help change your mood.

Shakti Mudra for Insomnia/Menstrual DiscomfortShakti Mudra is good for inducing sleep. It helps those suffering from chronic insomnia by relaxing the body and fighting mental stress. Also this Mudra helps women during menstrual discomfort.  It relieves tension in the pelvic area and prevents spasms in the intestines.

To practice Shakti Mudra: Join ring fingers and little fingers as indicated. Fold index and middle fingers loosely over thumbs.  Then gently tuck thumbs towards the palms.

For chronic insomnia:  Sit on bed, close your eyes and do Shakti Mudra for 10-12 minutes. Slowly, feel the physical and mental tension melting away.  When finished lie down. It’s beneficial to practice this Mudra every night before retiring.

For menstrual discomfort: Close your eyes, practice Mudra 10-12 minutes when needed.

Golden Crystal Shower Meditation

Today I took a lovely walk with my daughter through the botanical garden. The January sun was shining through the trees with the strong reminder color is a positive source of energy.  The authors Simon Lilly & Lilian Verner-Bonds demonstrates the power of color in their book, Crystal & Colour Healing Using the Powers of Nature for Health and Harmony.  One of the meditations in the book is called ‘The Golden Crystal Shower’.  The authors tell us that the color gold is used to lift the spirits and encourage the inner lights to burn brightly within us.

Golden Crystal Show MeditationThe following is my version of Golden Crystal Shower Meditation:

1.  Make yourself comfortable. Take a deep breath in and on exhaling imagine lying in a meadow, surrounded with trees and a stream nearby.  A gentle breeze moves through the trees and ripples the water.

2. Visualize looking up at the blue sky and begin to focus on the shimmering sun-gold rays showering through the trees.  Allow these sunrays to vibrate gently as they touch your body and turn to dew drops that are absorbed by your skin.

3. Feel an internal warmth deep inside you as the golden hue surges around your body, creating a wonderful glow.  When you are ready take a deep breath in and on exhaling open your eyes. Your mind and body have now been recharged and revitalized.

Author, master trainer, international speaker, and meditation expert, Pragito Dove says “Dancing meditation is one of the easiest ways to discover a calm, quiet, place inside yourself that is filled with joy, wisdom and love.”  When dancing, you release a tremendous amount of tension. The movement of dance is a great way to set this energy free. The following Dancing meditation was created by mystic and teacher Osho, and is called *Osho Nataraj:

dancing meditation benefitsSTAGE ONE: Dancing (40 minutes or only 4 minutes) Play your favorite music, close your eyes, begin to dance letting go of any sense of control. Allow your body to respond to the music any way it likes. Celebrate yourself. Become like a child again, having complete freedom to do any movement you want and become one with the music.

STAGE TWO: Stillness (20 minutes or only 2 minutes)  The next stage of the meditation is silent. Keeping your eyes closed, lie down, be totally silent, and still.

STAGE THREE: Get up and dance again (5 minutes) To complete the meditation, the music starts up again and you dance for five more minutes. Celebrate and enjoy your body and the sense of total freedom dancing like this gives you.

Lung 5 Relieves Cought & Lung Constriction

Author Jacqueline Young teaches the following acupressure Lung 5 treatment in her book Acupressure Simple Steps to Health:

Location:  (See location on diagram). The Lung 5 acupoint is located on the inside of the elbow at the tendons outer edge in the hollow crease where the elbow is slightly bent.

Technique:  Support the elbow in the fingers of the opposite hand and locate the acupoint with the thumb.  Apply acupressure perpendicularly and repeat on opposite arm.

Benefits:  Using acupressure on Lung 5 clears heat from the lungs, unblocks fluid congestion in lungs, treats coughing, asthma and colds.
